WHY I DIDN'T LOVE THIS BLOG ENTRY
--------------------------------------------------------------
Ms. Stagliano: No approved treatment.
sheldon101: Wrong www.mongabay.com/health/medications/Riluzole.html
Ms. Stagliano: There's a vest and a machine needed to help breathing and they cost a lot and insurance covers only a little. He wanted insurance to pay for his alternative treatments.
sheldon101: The vest is better than tapping the chest. Many programs include BI-PAP or help those with ALS obtain a BI-PAP , http://www.alsforums.com/forum/tips-tricks-gadgets/9732-bipap-information.html Without a "we'll cover crazy stuff" clause, the insurance company was correct.
Ms. Stagliano: "Jim died just as the disease was overtaking the slowdown the alternative treatments had offered."
sheldon101: Anything, including reading this blog, may appear effective. However, most people know that correlation ( progression slows after reading Ms. Stagliano) isn't evidence of causation (reading Ms. Stagliano slows ALS).
Ms. Stagliano: "You did the right thing, my friend. You died quickly. If only that weren't the only option in America."
sheldon101: It's not America, it's the disease. Unlimited funds wouldn't change the course of the disease. It just puts more money in the pockets of Big Alternative.
